Lance Cpl. DonaldJ.Hogan, including a

Lance Cpl. DonaldJ.Hogan was serving with the 1st Battalion, 5th
Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force . . .
as a rifleman in Alpha Company, 2nd Platoon, 3rd Squad in Afghanistan when
he was killed in action on August 26, 2009 by an improvised explosive device
while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Nawa District,
Helmand province.
Hogan was posthumously
awarded the Navy Cross (second only to the Medal of Honor) for extraordinary
heroism while conducting combat operations against the enemy. He also
received the Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart Medal.
