A heartfelt story of a Vietnam War
veteran's pride and deep sorrow about passing his unit's battle flag to his
son, U.S. Army 1st Lt. Nainoa Hoa, so he could carry it
with him while serving in Iraq.
1st Lt. Nainoa Hoa was carrying his father's unit
battle flag in 2005, when he was killed in action. Nainoa Hoa
also shared the flag with his unit in earlier
deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq . . . letting his
soldiers take turns carrying the flag.
1st Lt. Nainoa Hoa received the Bronze Star Medal for his heroism.
