I am alone
within the joy
and the sorrow
of our lives
yet
love shines through
In memory of the brave.
... young men
side by side
on Gunships
gone to war
and morning tears
upon a Wall.
In the places of the heart
where the homeless dream
it is all the same
just you
and me
within the last prayer
of a troubled world.
A place we call home.
(the Doctor called and I said... OK!)
I light another cigarette.
... and the Gunships
have all
flown
away.
