Soldier's Home | |
| Seven thousand miles away from home, the smell of our wives, the laughter of our children, seem all but gone.
Across an ocean, a world away and full of fear, our hearts desire; nothing more but to have them near.
In a desert, with landscapes abound, hours may pass, with not one sound.
As the sun takes refuge, off in the west, we pray to the almighty, that we pass the test.
As darkness falls, time begins to slow, and we scan the ridges, for an evil foe.
With the dawning of a new day, we witness a glorious sunrise, and we dream of our families and wonder, how must we seem in their eyes?
Do they truly understand, why we are miles from home? Do they know why, we must be gone?
Do they realize, that we hold them dear? And do they know, that we want nothing more, but to have them near?
Seven thousand miles away, and alone, with each passing day, we are one day closer to home. | By Denson Goff Copyright 2005 Listed 10/30/2006 |
