Moved...
into a war,
... frightened,
and hiding
somewhere!
Death of Men. I loved!
... dying for you
... me
dying men!
... and I saw my Mother crying.
... and the man from yellow cab
weeping!
... my Mother turning
and trying
not to cry!
... her tears falling
toward me,
and old
memory!
I was so damn angry
that I refused
the horror... of that damn War!
The darkness that buries
all
dreams... in Vietnam!
I came home
... and my memory cried
within the silence
of midnight,
... alone!
... within myself
... alone.
I cried for my Brothers
... silent
... and gone!
How hallowed are my memories of the brave?
... maimed and
dying memories,
... gone!
How hallowed
the ground that I walk
now?
... this America!
... this home!
