A Message for Maggi country as flag
Hi... Maggi...
Here I am again talking to you in my mind
This war in Vietnam is coming along just fine
They say we will all be home in almost no time
My career in the Marines is going to shine

Mag... I am having this dream nightly
and that's causing me a lot of woe
It is the same dream all of the time
It always comes and is slow to go

Maggi... in it... you're dressed in your very best
Hon... you look so sad... there among the rest
... just sitting... silent... with your head bowed...
but not alone... for it is a familiar crowd

Mag... You always lift your wet tear-stained face...
reach your hands for something that I just can't place
My dream was clearer tonight... gave me an awful fright
Clear and true... things are now... Maggi... I am not there beside you

Please always remember my kisses upon your dear face
I am finally able to see what before I could not place...
for in your trembling arms... Maggi... you cradle a folded flag
Dearest One... I never thought I'd come home... in a body bag

About Author... Faye Sizemore makes her home in the beautiful foothills of South Carolina with Grant, the love of her life, as well as three dogs, two cats, two parakeets and four nanny goats. Grant is a Vietnam Veteran having served with the US Marines in 1968-69 and is, of course, Faye's muse. Faye is deeply interested in Veterans' Affairs and Veterans' Causes. She is very proud of Grant and her poetry is an off-shoot of that pride.
