Life Back Then |
| 1940's World War II My grandma tells me stories Of what life was like back then.
Window flags with stars of blue or gold Drills, blackouts, curtains drawn Don't dare to step outside!
Butter, coffee, sugar, shoes, Where are these? They are overseas.
When the bicycle messenger rides by What will his news be?
Of brave soldiers dying, Of countries being bombed away, Of the victory that is wished by all So their dear ones will be home to stay. | Katie 8th Grade Copyright 2005 Listed 10/05/2006Poem "recognized for creative excellence" by School District of Lee County, Ft. Myers, FL |
