Departing Words To War | |
| As I leave u this day, I cannot help but say, This is not the end, This is not goodbye,
For if I admit it is, I admit I could die, If I ever come to terms with such a thing, The only thing that worries me is the pain to you it might bring,
But I cannot leave you now, I simply don't think I know how, To leave u with just a kiss, Could there ever be a worse nightmare than this?
As I leave you and step to my plane, I look back knowing deep in my heart that we may never meet again,
And what will you say of this day latter down the road, Is this a story of witch you're children will be told?
Will you remember this day? Later in you're life if should I pass away, I look to the heavens and pray oh my god, To keep you safe and above all,
That you not forget me as I leave this place, Knowing in my heart I go to fight for the best of the human race,
Please do not look back with anger at me, I did what I thought I must u see, And so I look back one last time, To comfort my heart as it tells me this rhyme,
And I look into you're eyes that with me have stood the test of time,
And I say to myself, I now must return home as not to just be some untold story upon some unseen shelf.
So I cannot say goodbye you see, Cause if there is a god who answers my prayers one day it will once again be you with me.
Goodbye my love, Goodbye my turtle dove,
Just know this one last thing, As I leave to fight there is one little ring,
That I wish to give you but I do not dare, As soon as I get home it will be on you're finger because I put it there. Goodbye! | Alex Crabb Copyright 2004 |
