The Altar of War |
|
|
Framed by the Moon,
I hid
within a dark night
of fire,
... and cries of pain.
Gunfire spoke
in anger
within my heart,
and I said
... Yes!... to all of it.
I became a lone
hard wolf of war
lost upon the river
of death.
Calm, deadly,
as I moved far
far away from life.
That is how I lived.
1966.
I loved the camouflage
of destruction
... the destruction of others
as I took the enemy
into my soul.
I died
as everything dies
when nothing matters.
It was dark
and there was no way home...,
... anymore.
I am guilty
because within the filth
and the hatred,
I loved my Brothers
... more. |
