A Day in the Heat of War |
|
|
The Moon
can no longer
carry the night.
Dawn pulls the Sun
from its pocket.
Checks ammo,
as it loads the day into
the steamy heat of a green valley,
hiding
in a vagrant mist.
Soldiers, awakening
so far away from those we fight for'.
Those, sleeping in yesterday,
... kissed by hopes and dreams,
... as we go forth
to die
in their tomorrow.
Saddle Up!... Move Out!
Another day of sweat and madness.
The night remains so far away
sleeping in my bed.
The valley smiles with heat,
and a silence that glows
with danger.
The green waves flow on
forever,
and the clouds fill their eyes with tears.
It is a long way
... we travel together,
my Brothers.
A long way,
trying each day
to make it outa this place.
A long way
... going home. |
