Time
chooses
it's own path,
and often sleeps
beside dark highways
of history.
Yet,
time remains free,
here
within us,
claiming the sweetness
of liberty.
Time
that forgot the brave.
... those
lost to a ten year war.
The torn
bleeding soldiers lost
to those indifferent to courage
and bravery.
Time is a beggar
lost upon a highway
... lost
upon the American road
called Freedom!
Time is a child
weeping
... crying, as I lift her into my arms.
I kiss her
tell her
'I am sorry"
hold her
close to me.
I tell her of soldiers,.
... veterans gone to silence.
History muffled by distant drums
that beat in time
with war.
... and she hears them beating.
She turns to me.
tears falling... and she cries
as a child
falling unto my chest.
She shall be
forever.
my beloved.
Her name
is
"Liberty"! |
