Veterans Day | |
| Without regret, without remorse they went off to fight in wars, for many; they're sentimental soldiers of concocted wars.
Not for fame and not for glory, but for humanity enlisted, a duty long abused of political minds, by those who send them off to fight and die. Some will never return, some wounded body and soul; some lie deadly silent.
They know of much self-sacrifice and who will lose a limb, a life. Among siblings, their buddies, their love never dies or fails.
Generation after generation you see them, honor them, remember them forever. They served the World with dignity and valor braver than the fools who sent them away to fight bloody war.
They won peace; they rule today, freedom rings Veterans Day. | By Thomas McGowan Copyright 2006 Listed November 23, 2006 http://poet.us |
