Some say too many were lost over there
in a senseless war that never goes away
torturing soldiers' souls... so contraire
to their care-free lives before that day.
Some say too many will never come home
their bodies missing too long to be found
their silence eclipsing the gluttonous loam
their dust hallowing once enemy ground.
Some say many nights they go back there
to re-fight those battles they will never forget
knowing too many are still there somewhere
indelibly entrenched in the heart of the Vet.
