Temporary Escape |
|
|
All together, they shouted and clapped
as their war-weary loved ones appeared,
the Iraq nightmare, for them, finally over,
lost in the smiles of all who cheered.
The lure of open arms drew them closer,
as the snipers and the bombs left them alone,
as their tortured brains, once addled by war,
was soothed, for the moment, by "Welcome Home!" |
