Day by day they fade away, our soldiers now all bent and gray. Their countries duty done with pride, in far off places and all worldwide.
National hero's while still unknown, made sure our flags were still flown. Now their battles are long gone, another era has now dawn.
History books tell of those wars, how many died from all our corps. National cemeteries filling fast, veterans from our wars now past.
Memorials stand for them that fought, to let us know it was not for naught. While battles still are being waged, and protests now are being staged.
Please Lord let us not forget, our fighting troops are not all home yet. Let us praise our newest vet, don't call them something we'll regret.
Now let us say a prayer tonight, to hope they'll make it home alright. Let us honor all those now passed, for their time in history is now cast. |
