Not Forgotten at Vietnam |
| They awakened to fight another day, In a foreign place so far away. The grounds they fought on were not so kind, A jungle with a wicked mind. What eerie things lay up ahead In this unknown land full of the dead. Many were lost in this prison of green, No one around to hear them scream. What unspoken things gripped their thinking, Never forgotten, never shrinking? They awakened to fight a broken cause, Never hearing their rightful applause. Many returned to be spit on and scorned, Their just honor unadorned. No memorial could ever repay The pain you felt every hellish day. Thank you for the tears you shed, for the proud blue, white, and bloody red. | Samantha 10th Grade Copyright 2005 Listed 10/05/2006Poem "recognized for creative excellence" by School District of Lee County, Ft.
