The Girl Was Waving |
|
|
We hung upon the rail
of loneliness
aboard a quiet ship,
watching
the soldiers
like us,
from Europe,
and the Bases in America.
...all of us,
caught
between a war
and home.
The 'Navies' were eyeballin'
binoculars
and one said,
'Sarge...Sarge!
Ya gotta check this out!'
She was kissing a Soldier
and...WOW!
She was all of fine,
... fine legs
and the right places
round.
Long blond hair...
kissing him again.
He turned,
waved,
and came aboard.
She was smiling and crying
and waving all the beauty
in the whole damn World.
I just stared in the glasses
and prayed her into my heart.
Prayed to remember her!
...and prayed to come back home. |
