Ghosts of Arlington |
| These white crosses mark my brothers' graves; Nausea sweeps over me in suffocating waves. We owe them the home of the free and the brave, But can give them nothing, for their home is in their grave.
For their fates they cried not a single tear; They carried out their duty with laughter and cheer. For the freedom of all they faced their fears, And that is the reason they all rest here.
Remember dear loved ones that we really must try To remember their reason each time that we cry. Liberty was their cause we must say with a sigh; Liberty for you and for I that they chose to die.
If you stand for a while in dear Arlington, You can still see their faces in the dying light of the sun; Still hear their laughter as they'd shoulder their guns, And prepare to fight again, as an army of one. | Krystal 8th Grade Copyright 2006 Listed 11/14/2006Poem "recognized for creative excellence" by School District of Lee County, Ft.
