Crossing Midnight |
|
|
I keep the watch... within
long hours
laughing with the young
who dream,
and shall laugh,
tomorrow!
Then!
I race on.
... dancing
with all the beloved Ghosts!
Ghost riders
of the old dreams
... speeding so far
... far away
from the cautious arms of history.
They smile and slap hands
... jumping and
shouting
at this old man
driving alone past midnight
... riding memory upon a road that
leads toward dawn.
Memory of the brave
Silent tears from long ago.
I live
and love
the holy memory of them
... the brave.
My men!
... brothers in arms
... gone! |
