A Soldier of the Cross Went Home | |
| A Soldier of the cross went home today, no more to roam... His heart was so faithful and true... Jesus has called him home. He had a heart of goodness... even as through a war he went. He did his best for our Country and went where Uncle Sam sent.
His thoughts were calm and true...He never missed a beat. He thought often of the haven, where his Savior he'd meet. After all the toil of war was done... a twinkle still in his eyes. He loved the Savior up yonder... his heart was so wise.
I am sure many people loved this soldier, over the years. I for one feel on my cheeks, for our great loss; tears. We will see him again; when God calls the wondrous roll. I believe that's when we'll be back together again... in the fold.
He was brave and had kindness of all things above. He went through Normandy and Sicily for us, with love. He gave his heart to Jesus many years ago as a bond, Of the belief he had of going to the Father... through the Son.
We will all miss you, our dear soldier boy of long ago When we playing on Papa's porch; the fireflies all aglow. We'll see you again, just as I know some of your buddies did. And, the love that lit up all Round you, cannot be hid. | Pearlie Duncan Walker Copyright 2003 http://www.obsv.com/wildfern/ Listed November 17, 2005 |
