A Son Of A MARINE! |
| My baby boy came to me With a sparkle in his eye. He came to say good-bye to me, And of course I asked why.
He said " I'm going to see daddy, I'll stay with him for a while." I just looked at him with a tear in my eye And gave him a gentle smile.
I told him, " Sweetie, he's too far away," I started to cry because I didn't know what to say.
Daddy and I were supposed to go fishing... I guess that's something else important he'll be missing.
My son came to me later on that night And asked why daddy had to leave to fight.
I knew I couldn't answer the questions that he had, But I could see in his eyes, he was confused and sad.
My little boy is growing up too fast. His daddy only remembers what he looked like About three years back.
My son is seven now and getting tall, His daddy gets to see him And come home this fall.
We watched all the troops walk off of the plane, But daddy wasn't there, We wanted to cry but had to refrain.
So my mommy and I turned around, and there daddy was... Not making a sound.
Daddy smiled at me and gave me a hug. He held me so tight, I felt so snug.
My daddy's a MARINE that's all I can say. He served three years in Iraq, So YOU could live free another day. | Jerrika Fuller 9th Grade Copyright 2006 Listed 12/07/2006 |
