Wars are fought for power Between two warring nations, By Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors, Who man the battle stations.
The victors become conquerors, The losers become slaves, The conquered fill the prisons, The dead men fill the graves.
The victors rob and plunder, And take whate'er they can, The losers stand by helpless - 'Twas so since time began.
But then, a newfound nation, Made up of bond and free, Began to take possession, From sea to shining sea.
They formed a strong allegiance Between each state and town, And swore they'd fight for freedom, And never would let down.
They cast off the oppressors, The oppressed they unchained, And built a mighty nation, Yet liberty remained.
The wars they fought were costly, In lives and money, too, To win their nation's freedom Under the flag, Red, White and Blue.
No nation became conquered by America, the Brave, No war was ever started, Other people to enslave,
But to establish justice And liberty for all, Where each could have a say-so, While standing brave and tall.
What other land or country Throughout the world can say That they have fought for freedom like The good old USA?
Let every Son of Uncle Sam Declare allegiance to This blessed land, America, And our Red, White and Blue.
Let freedom be our watchword, And justice be our song, And when the music starts to play, Then let all sing along.
Be worthy of our Banner Which flies on land and sea, Salute the Colors of the Brave, This land of liberty.
Stand ready to defend again This chosen land of ours, To keep it safe from enemies, And from foreign powers.
Salute with pride our Colors, And honor the dead who gave Their lives for freedom's causes, And liberty to save.
All hail thee, our America, In anthems loud and clear, And shout its praises to the sky, For freedom, give a cheer. |
