Is it too much to ask for our
leaders to be an example? For our country to move
forward, In this needed phase of change? For citizens
to come together; Loved ones cease to be estranged.
Is it too much to ask for a brother to lend a hand?
For a sister to make amends; For a husband to admit his
wrong; For a wife to try and understand.
Is it
too much to ask for the violence to stop? For hearts to
soften toward each other; For loved ones to rebuild
broken bonds; For children to witness healing that comes
from admitting wrong.
Is it too much to ask to stop
the pointed fingers? To cease the hateful speech; To
lessen the name-calling; To stop abusing our freedom of
speech.
Is it too much to ask for hearts to soften
in alliance? Forgiveness to be asked and given;
Hatred melting fully into love; Coming together from the
division.
Is it too much to ask for the slinging to
slow down? For the right and left to merge toward the
middle; For the donkey and elephant to make nice; For
the country to surrender toward the good of all.
Is
it too much to ask that today may surprise each and every
person? A welcome sign of refuge; A glorious banner
of truth. The road toward healing to begin; A
faithful hope it's not too late.
Is it too much to
ask for friends to overcome; For families to seek amends?
For our country’s broken ties To bind united once
again.
