On this great day the blueprint is laid
Checks our forefathers wrote are now cashed and
paid
What started as a dream becomes reality
We're a giant step forward in racial equality
To see this great man take fight is such a sight
As he takes the highest office and tries to do
what's right
He doesn't see any color; all he sees is the
struggle
He understands it's gonna take us all to win
this tussle
Together hand in hand, part of his plan
Create new jobs for the fellow man
Stimulate the economy, advancing technology
Finding ways to go green, increase the study of
ecology
He let us know that we all can have a part
Find our place in this race and make a great
start
On this uphill journey to the land of the free
Standing proud and brave, the way we should be
We all know there are hard times ahead
With a slumping economy starving to be fed
Nevertheless we must press to progress
In the end we will clean up all this mess
Through it all our children's children will be
living
In a cleansed world remarkably forgiving
Thanks to one man who has followed his dream
And us, the people, who have joined his team
Let's roll up our sleeves and get this job done
This battle won't be over until we have won
Words have been spoken, barriers have been
broken
We now stand behind our leader with our minds
open
