We lounge comfortable and watch TV
Sit quiet and read a book.
How do we share?
We drive to work and listen to the radio
We sit at a desk and talk on the phone
We hear music through headphones and exercise at leisure
Walk in the park and play fetch with a pup
How do we share?
A picnic at the beach, toes in the sand
A drive in the country, blue sky above
How do we share?
Dinner and a movie, with popcorn and licorice
A soft pillow, warm bed, all tucked in tight
How do we share?
We try hard, we live full, we love great, and we remember who gives us these
freedoms...
How do they share?
They wake with the moon before the sun rises
Read letters from home if there is such a one
How do they share?
They prepare relentless and become strong
They study hard and absorb their fill
How do they share?
Motoring a tank down a desolate road
Amass in a trench to hear only silence
How do they share?
An MRE under a shred of canvas
Dirt in their teeth, sweat in their eyes
How do they share?
Weapon in hand, weight on their back they rise, fall and stumble
But guard us and others without a second thought
How do they share?
They try hard, they fight tough, the sacrifice grand, and they remember what
it's for...
We call them heroes, but they beg to differ...
Don't let them go quietly or temperate for sure...
Share...with me...a prayer for the soldier.
