Your Commander has called you
To join the ranks above,
And join your fellow servicemen
Who shared their faith and love
For this, our land, America,
Sweet land of liberty,
Who fought for our own freedom,
And won the victory.
Greater love hath no man,
Than one lays down his life for his friend,
And many, many thousands,
Have fought to the bitter end,
In defense of home and country,
And loved ones, great and small,
Just the way that you did,
And to the end, you stood tall.
May God, who is our Father,
And your "Commander-in-Chief",
Reward you for your efforts,
And may you find relief,
From memories of wars gone by,
Knowing you did your best,
As evidence of the medals
You wore upon your chest.
Medals that you truly earned
In World War II, Korea and 'Nam,
While leading men to victory,
In defense of Uncle Sam,
And may you find reunion,
With those you fought with here,
And those who've gone before you,
Who to your heart are dear.
And may the ones you left behind
Remember every day,
Your love for home and country,
The good old USA,
And keep forever in their hearts
The things you fought for here,
Your loved ones, home and country,
Which to your heart were dear.
Ret. Colonel Ray Casserly,
We honor you this day,
And thank you for your patriotism,
In defense of the USA,
And of our flag, Old Glory,
Oh may it ever wave,
O'er this land from sea to sea,
And the home of the brave. |
