What Would You Do?

I picked up the phone and called my son today,
He is in the National Guard of our great USA.
The words he told me I want you to know,
For the thoughts of a Soldier it will show.

"I see, Mom, a demonstration today,
To every one of them I would like to say.
If a gun was pointed at your family or you,
Tell me just what you would do.
Would you do nothing to defend your land?
Would you look and shake your head or simply stand?
Or would you act and protect them from harm?
You surely want them safe, happy and warm.
Well someone did break into your home on Sept 11,
The planes struck and thousands went to heaven!
I am asking you now, what are you going to do?
I joined the Military to help our country through.
It offers so many things untold,
Pride in country, prestige, these I hold.
We will keep the great USA free,
And will get rid of terrorist, you will see.
We Servicemen really love our land,
Will you join us and proudly take a stand?
We want our freedom banner to proudly wave high,
And we will fight for our freedom till we die!
Do not protest the stand we take here,
Give those who are fighting a loud cheer.
Put down that protest sign you are holding now,
Lift your hands high and your head humbly bow.
Each demonstration against our stand,
Is like a bomb in our enemies hand.
Do you realize what we are trying to do?
For your freedom to march, we are willing to die for you!
You see for us to keep our liberty,
We must all stand together proudly.
We, everyone must have patriotism,
To keep this country free from terrorism.
Listen to this Soldier; I am fighting for you not only me,
I want our homeland to be forever free.
Terrorism is such an awful thing,
The Iraqi people live under its wing.
We must do away with that evil you know,
That's why as soldiers we're ready to go.
We don't want war, but something has to be done,
And our Military should be the one.
To show the world terrorism is wrong,
We all as a country should always be strong.
I have children and I want them to always live free,
That's why we are there, why can't you see?
So I ask again, what would you do?
If some madman took your family from you.
Would you hang your head and just walk away,
And leave for others to settle someday?"

His words were true as I listened with care,
I told him his thoughts I would share.
I thank God I have a son such as he,
Willing to die for you and for me.
The bible says no greater love has a man,
Than to give his life for his fellowman.
Lets all stand and stamp Evil from this place
Making the world a safe future to face.
