Words are really weak... Bro!
They stumble around
drunk on history.
I stared at that picture of you
in yer Blues!
before I stared at you
gone away... Bro!
All the guns I ever held
could not bring you back again.
All the fury in my hands
and eyes
could not win that last battle.
All the world we knew
said goodbye to you.
I get lost sometimes
in the dirt of a soldier
and the tobacco that we chew
in all the history of time.
I shall carry on
in the hope that You
will reach across the silence
and remember Me.
I shall carry on. |
