Billy Loco |

|
It is almost a hundred miles
and lots of red dirt
to reach the place where he lives.
Billy Loco
was a draftee
from a war so long ago.
Last time I seen him
we were laffin'
and drinkin' white likker.
I said,
Billy
Damn!
Silver looks damn good on black
and he just laffed
shook my hand
and we sat a while
remembering stories of ourselves
that we don't near believe.
'Cause the sun is fallin'
down
and we both had tears in our eyes
and Ms Maddy
well
she was cryin' too
and Billy Loco reached over to me and said
Cal
please tell me...
tell me that we made a difference....
I gotta know.
Don't know Bro
but you made a difference to me.
Billy sleeps now
in Milledgeville
hell of a soldier
hell of an American.
I wish I would have
told him
that he made a difference.
Wish
I could tell myself the same.
But it's jus'
lyin'
'bout all that shit.
Me and Billy was there.
That's all! |
