Ask me about my soldier and I may cry with pride,
I'll tell you of his duties as I'm wishing he was by my
side. I'll beam with delight as I tell you of his letters
And the things he's said to make, me, feel better. Those
who scoff and those who complain Can never see a
soldier's wife's pain.
Ask me about the soldier in my
life, I'm standing with pride, I am his wife. No
matter the job that he is assigned, no matter the time
his duty will find. He's there to protect, to serve in a
land, He's there across the desert sand. A mirage of
home may try and greet him today, But for your safety
that's the price he will pay.
Ask me about the
husband that you don't see I'll tell you that he misses
me. He's a soldier tried and true, Through the long
lonely nights he fights for you. This land he fights for,
this country he calls home, Has lost it's pride, even in
our capitol's dome. But still he puts on this uniform of
green, To keep us from fearing the things he has seen.
