The Magnificent Lady | |
| Her colorful fabric gently waves in the breeze, Her strength is as firm as the strongest oak trees.
Looking upon her beauty makes my heart melt, The passion she stirs, is as strong as I've ever felt.
With tears trickling down my emotional face, I vow an oath, that no other will take her place.
She represents all that I love and cherish most, Gazing upon her splendor I vow never to coast.
Some may think her of ordinary size and beauty, I'm so enamored some may think that I am snooty.
She represents daughter, wife, and mother all in one, Her illuminating values are like that of the rising sun.
Some demean and deface her without thought, Their actions tarnish her splendor like or not.
I'm talking about our flag of red, white and blue, She represents liberty, she represents me and you.
She is the greatest symbol of freedom world wide, She is the outer representation of our inner pride.
She's the only shroud worthy to cover fallen warriors She majestically lines the entrance to millions of foyers.
Might is not endowed throughout her borders on earth, But it is her good people that give her incalculable worth,
The brave young man who's willing to die for others, And the righteous teaching of both fathers and mothers.
The freedom men have to express their innermost soul, The bounty we share with others when our cup is full.
Anytime we see our lady majestically flying anywhere, May our hearts leap for joy that she is still flying their. | Von E. Weeks Copyright 2004 |
