| I don't expect you to understand how, as a soldier, I can lay down my life. And I can't understand how you, can, cheat with another man's wife.
I don't expect you to understand why, to God up in Heaven I pray. And I can't understand why you deny His existence, but you won't, come Judgement Day.
I don't expect you to understand why, with honor, my word I give. And I can't understand why you, in shame, lies and deceit choose to live.
I don't expect you to understand how, in defense, freedom's enemies will die. And I can't understand how you, will purposely, abort an innocent, defenseless life.
I don't expect you to understand why, for my country, anything I will do. And I can't understand why, full of greed, you ask, what this country will do for you.
I don't expect you to understand why, respect for authority I show. And I can't understand why that hate, violence and profanity are all you know.
I don't expect you to understand how, for liberty, our forefathers died. And I can't understand why, in this land of opportunity, you demand a free ride.
I don't expect you to understand how, we sometimes must die for our Rights. And I don't understand why you ignore the fact, blood was shed, so you can sleep peacefully each night. | By Ken B. Harper Copyright 2003 Listed 6/23/2005 |
