Lady Liberty | |
| Our Lady of perpetual light By thy right arm is strength and might Crowned with glorious stars on high With freedom's torch raised to the sky
Bejeweled wonder to behold Aglow with heaven's rays of gold Bedecked in truth and dignity With heart toward humanity
In thy left hand a parchment scroll Inscribed in Roman numerals bold The date of timelessness revered Of independence held most dear
Smile bright, Our Lady, whom we hail On veterans who've served thee well Grace souls who've shed their lives at home And those who've died on fields alone
Uphold thy daughters and thy sons Who man the forts and carry guns Help men left wounded, halt and maimed Bless those kept safe; preserve each name
With justice now for one and all Renewed in vision to stand tall Proclaim this day their jubilee And mark a place right next to thee! | By Susan Crowe Copyright 2002 http://MaLadysPoetry.com |
