America, I Love You | |
|
I'm glad that I was born an
American who is free,
Free to travel where I want,
From sea to shining sea.
And free to worship God above
And serve Him, heart and soul,
And free to live the American Dream,
And free to reach my goal.
And free to serve where I am called,
Without restrictions here,
And free to share my life each day
With those I love so dear.
I love this land of liberty,
From sea to shining sea,
Which I have crossed ten times or more,
With my sweet Betty Lee.
I love the freedoms I enjoy,
And our flag, Red, White and Blue,
Which fills my heart with pride and joy,
To see it waving, too.
I love the freedom to express
What lies deep in my heart,
Which I have tried to share with you
Right from the very start.
And I want you to know, dear friend,
I'm glad we can be friends,
And also fellow patriots,
Whose heart so often blends
With feelings I am feeling,
And pride I'm glad to share,
In being an American,
Because I truly care.
God bless this land of liberty,
And all who dwell herein,
And keep us safe from tyranny,
And also free from sin,
So we may worship the God of this land,
Jesus Christ, our King,
And sing His praises evermore,
As our glad offering.
America, I love you,
And I am proud to be
A citizen of this great land,
This land of liberty.
Let's keep Old Glory waving,
'Tis our Red, White and Blue,
An emblem of this land I love,
America, I love you. | By James H. Lee, Jr.
