A Letter From Our American Flag | |
|
I Know That You've Been Struggling
And Feeling Kind of Blue
But I Wanted You To Know That
I'm Awfully Proud Of You!
Through Many Good And Hard Times
We Have Already Been
GOD Bless Us All I Pray
As We Struggle Towards A Peaceful World
Our Dream That Never Ends!
From The Days I Fought With Washington
And Crossed The Delaware
Through All The Other Battles
That We've Fought From Here To There!
I Stood By Mr. Lincoln That Day In Gettysburg
When He Offered Us Those Somber Words
And His Message Still Is Heard
It Echoes Over Our Great Country
From Shore To Shining Shore!
To The Soldiers Who Salute Me
And Stand Right By My Side
To Those Who Pledge Allegiance
And Insure I Never Die!
From All The Holes And Powder Burns
The Frays, And Rips, And Tears
You Always Sew Me Up And Raise Me
High Up In The Air!
You Lace Your Boots And Check Your Gear
Without A Hesitation
Always Ready To Deploy
No Matter What Your Destination!
You Always Fight For Freedom
And Battle Of Oppression
Ever Ready, Ever Faithful
You Are
The Beating Heart
Of This Great Nation!
I'm Standing At The Ball Park
Where You Take Your Wife And Kids
And I See Your Smiling Faces
As We All Recite The Pledge!
I Stand Along The Factories, In The Fields,
And By The Seas
From Mountaintops To Valley Lows
From Sea To Shining Sea
Where People Sweat, And Bleed, And Work
Pursuing All Their Dreams
That's The Stitching In My Fabric
It's What Makes Up My Strong Seams!
From Planes, And Trains, And Auto Cars
To Ships That Sail The Seas
Everywhere You Take A Look
You'll Get A Glimpse Of Me!
I Even Took A Rocket Ride
To Stand Upon The Moon
For All Of Those Who Dare To Dream
And Make Those Dreams Come True!
And Every Time A Veteran Falls
I'll Be There To Comfort Them
With Stars And Stripes Stretched Open Wide
To Hold Them In My Arms
Standing Silent At Attention
As The Bugler Gently Plays
I'll Bow My Head As Shots Ring Out
Then Commit You To God's Care.
And Once The Grieving Is Over
And The Sun Begins To Shine
You'll Be Another Loving Memory
In The Fabric Of Our Flag
And Forever In Our Hearts And Minds!
So Hoist Me Up Just Like They Did
Back In World War 2
When I Stood Tall On Iwo Jima
And We All Fought Hard For You!
And I Know That You've Been Struggling
And Feeling Kind of Blue
But I Wanted You To Know
THAT THIS TOUGH OLD FLAG
IS AWFULLY PROUD OF YOU! |
