The Fourth of July, 2007 | |
| I'm glad we get to celebrate the 4th of July, And see all the fireworks exploding in the sky, And witness with my own eyes the patriotic fire, In the heart of every patriot which America does inspire.
I'm glad to see Old Glory waving in the breeze, And glad to thank the Lord above, while down upon my knees, For this, God's own chosen land, this land of liberty, Where you and I, it's citizens, may stand tall and be free.
I'm glad to stand when the flag goes by, with hand upon my heart, And salute our nation's banner, and all who did impart Their patriotic service, and selfless sacrifice, In defense of our sweet liberty, which truly did suffice.
I'm glad to be a citizen of this land I love, And proud of her accomplishments, with the help of God above, And with the help of patriots who volunteer to be Defenders and protectors of our sweet liberty.
I, for one, am proud of those who've served our country well, And I salute them, one and all, and honor those who fell, Giving their last measure of devotion, so that we, Who are their fellow Americans, could stand, forever free.
And I salute the ones who lived, and live on earth today, With battle scars which they received in defense of the USA, And in defense of freedom, and our Red, White and Blue, Who did it all for you and me, as all true patriots do.
May God bless America, this land of liberty, And may God bless each patriot who loves it just like me, And may we be united, one nation, under God, And fly the flag, Old Glory, deserving of applaud.
But more, may we give thanks to God for all that He has done, To keep this land, America, as the chosen one, To be a land of liberty, an ensign to the world, For all of those who honor it, and our flag unfurled.
May God bless America, and all who would be free, And may He bless the ones who gave us our sweet liberty, The Soldiers and the Sailors, and the Army Air Corps, And the Marines, and all who fought on foreign shore,
Defending and protecting all those who would be free, Free from chains of bondage, and also tyranny, So that this world we live in, may be a better place, Filled with God's eternal love, and Jesus' loving grace. | By James H. Lee, Jr. Copyright 2007 Listed July 4, 2007 |
