M240B Machine Gun Live-Fire Aboard USS America March 30, 2020
March 28, 2020 - A Marine with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fires an M240B medium machine gun aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) at a floating inflatable target to rehearse defending the ship from enemy surface threats. The M240B live-fire was during a full mission profile Defense of the Amphibious Task Force exercise (DATF). America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
