USCG Zachary Edwards Awarded Silver Lifesaving Medal March 14, 2020
March 11, 2020 - Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander, Eighth Coast Guard District, congratulates Petty Officer 2nd Class Zachary Edwards, a marine science technician at Coast Guard Sector Mobile, for receiving the Silver Lifesaving Medal at Coast Guard Sector Mobile in Mobile, Alabama. Edwards was recognized for saving a life off Orange Beach, Alabama in August 2018 ... on his own wedding day. The Gold Lifesaving and Silver Lifesaving Medals are U.S. decorations issued by the United States Coast Guard. These decorations are two of the oldest medals in the United States and were originally established at the Department of Treasury as Lifesaving Medals First and Second Class.
