USS Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group Transits Pacific February 16, 2020 February 15, 2020 - The USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group transits the Pacific Ocean. Top - The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) is the lead ship (bottom left) closely followed on its starboard by the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) with the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52) following behind CVN 71, and the amphibious dock landing ship USS German Town (LSD 42) behind LHA 6. Bottom - CVN 71 is on the left and LHA 6 is on the right. Operating as an Expeditionary Strike Force, the Navy-Marine Corps team integrates carrier strike group combat power with the flexible capability of an expeditionary strike group to provide the fleet commander with a capable, credible combat force that can be deployed anywhere in the world.
