Remembering Cutter Blackthorn Tragedy February 4, 2019
January 28, 2019 - U.S. Coast Guard members place the wreath with a rose for each crewmember who perished during a ceremony to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the Coast Guard Cutter Blackthorn tragedy in the cutter's homeport of Galveston, Texas. On Jan. 28, 1980, the Blackthorn sank after colliding with the tanker Capricorn near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg, Florida.
