USS Kearsarge - Hurricane Florence Response September 16, 2018
September 13, 2018 - U.S. Navy Ensign Jibri Kea tracks the position of a surface contact using a polaris on the bridge of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
