November 21, 2017 - The Tomb of Remembrance in
Section 72 of Arlington National Cemetery is exclusively for the placement of portions of cremated
remains of deceased active duty members of the Armed Forces
eligible for interment. The Tomb of Remembrance serves as an
alternative to Department of Defense directed retirement at sea.
Surrounded by Cherry and Black Gum trees, the Tomb of
Remembrance has an inscription which reads: "Here We
Remember Those Who Have Laid So Costly A Sacrifice Upon The
