ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 20, 2015) - Unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) operators assigned to Commander, Task Group (CTG) 56.1 conduct UUV training operations using a MK 18 MOD 2 UUV. The MK 18 MOD 2 UUV uses side scan sonar to search and discover objects of interest. CTG-56.1 conducts mine countermeasures, explosive ordnance disposal, salvage-diving, and force protection operations throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
