The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf, homeported at Coast Guard Island, Alameda, Calif., passes underneath the Golden Gate Bridge as it transits out of the San Francisco Bay, Friday, March 9, 2012.
The Bertholf is the first National Security Cutter and is one of the flagships of the modern day Coast Guard along with the cutter Waesche and the soon to be commissioned cutter Stratton.
