Murphy, the Wounded Warrior Regiment's future operations officer, holds up a certificate he received during his Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" device ceremony at the regimental headquarters here. Murphy earned the Bronze Star for his, heroic service in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. He is flanked by Lieutenant Col. J.D. Harrill (right) and Sgt. Maj. Richard Mathern (left). Harrill and Mathern served as the former commanding officer and sergeant major of 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 2nd Marine Division (Forward), where Murphy earned this honor.
