Marine Maj. Gen. John A. Toolan awarded eight U.S. Army soldiers the Purple Heart medal during a Christmas Day ceremony on Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.

The solders were from the 14th Engineering Battalion, out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. After the ceremony the soldiers congratulated the awardees.
