First Lady Michelle Obama directed that the Christmas
tree be decorated with patriotic ornaments in honor of U.S. servicemembers.
Blank stationary and pens sit on a table next to the tree beside a mailbox
to encourage visitors to write to deployed troops.
White House officials
said they expect some 100,000 notes to be mailed.
