U.S. sailors aboard the Virginia-class
submarine USS Hawaii secure lines as the submarine moors in
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, July 23, 2009. The Hawaii is the third
Virginia-class submarine constructed and the first submarine to
bear the name of the Aloha state. The ship can support a
multitude of missions, including anti-submarine warfare,
anti-surface ship warfare and naval special warfare involving
special operations forces, intelligence and surveillance.
