Members from the Air Force ROTC program of Indiana University joined about 200 Hoosier fans and IU's football team for an America Supports You Freedom Walk to the Rock during pre-game ceremonies at IU's 4th annual Salute to America Day at Memorial Stadium on September 29, 2008.  An estimated 300 service members took advantage of the discounted tickets to attend the football game. They were recognized in the game, along with veterans and their families in front of a crowd of over 41,000.
