| On June 12, 2007 Gunners Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer Shaun W. Reagan (right) was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for superior performance of his duties as helmsman in USS Cape St. George while conducting maritime security operations off the coast of Somalia. On March 18, 2006, three suspected pirate vessels were tracked by USS Cape St. George and USS Gonzalez. As the search and seizure team approached, the small craft attack team prepared to provide small arms cover. Without warning, the suspected pirates opened fire. As rounds were impacting the sides of the USS Cape St. George, Reagan rushed to the bridge wing to provide personnel with body armor and helmets. Throughout the engagement, Reagan remained on the bridge passing vital words over the 1MC and driving the ship into position. Photo by Sean's proud mother, Maria Brodeur |
